Welcome
Patriot Rail Corp. ("Patriot Rail") is a railroad holding company that acquires and operates short line and regional freight railroads. The Patriot Rail management team is led by Gary O. Marino, the co-founder and former Chairman, President and CEO of RailAmerica, Inc. (NYSE: RA).
Management's mission is to grow shareholder value by selectively investing along with its private equity partners in freight railroad properties throughout North America. Patriot Rail's management team forms strong partnerships with the customers, communities and employees where its railroads are situated. Our goal is to provide customers with a first class transportation solution focused on safety, customer service, greater productivity, improved service reliability and targeted capital investment.
Patriot Rail currently owns and operates six short line freight railroads comprising 331 total rail miles in eight states -- the Tennessee Southern Railroad in Tennessee and Alabama; the Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway in Montana; the Utah Central Railway in Utah; the Sacramento Valley Railroad in California; the Louisiana and North West Railroad in Louisiana and Arkansas; and the Temple & Central Texas Railway in Texas.
Patriot Rail acquired its first short line railroad, the Tennessee Southern Railroad, in November 2006. The Tennessee Southern interchanges traffic with Class I carrier CSX Transportation at Natco, Tennessee. The railroad also provides intermodal service at its barge-served port facilities located in Florence, Alabama, at the Port of Florence.
In May 2007, Patriot Rail purchased the Rarus Railway, a freight line operating a total of 63 miles of rail (26 main line miles) between Anaconda and Butte, Montana. In July 2007, Rarus changed its name to Butte, Anaconda & Pacific Railway. The railroad interchanges traffic with Class I carriers BNSF at Butte and Silver Bow, Montana, and Union Pacific at Silver Bow, Montana.
In January 2008, Patriot Rail acquired its third short line railroad, the 34-mile Utah Central Railway located in Ogden, Utah. The railroad interchages traffic with Class I carriers Union Pacific and BNSF at Ogden, Utah.
Patriot Rail's fourth railroad, the Sacramento Valley Railroad, was formed in March 2008 to provide exclusive rail freight services at McClellan Business Park, a 3,000-acre business park located near Sacramento, California. McClellan Park has more than 2.4 million square feet of rail-served facilities, including 155 industrial buildings, 35 warehouses and a 10-acre rail transloading yard. The seven-mile railroad interchanges traffic with Class I carriers Union Pacific and BNSF.
In June 2008, Patriot acquired its fifth railroad, the 68-mile Louisiana & North West Railroad headquartered in Homer, Louisiana. The railroad interchanges traffic with Class I carriers Union Pacific at McNeil, Arkansas, and with Kansas City Southern at Gibsland, Louisiana.
Patriot formed its sixth railroad, the Temple & Central Texas Railway, in August 2009 to provide exclusive rail switching and other rail-related services to customers in the City of Temple's Central Pointe Rail Park in Temple, Texas. The railroad interchanges traffic with BNSF.
Patriot Rail is focused on working with new and existing customers to organically grow freight revenue while also evaluating railroad acquisitions throughout North America.
