Tom Tisa joined Patriot Rail in October 2024, as Chief Commercial Officer and is responsible for the company’s sales, marketing and growth strategy. Mr. Tisa has over 30 years in the transportation industry.
Prior to joining Patriot Rail, Mr. Tisa served as Assistant Vice President of Business Development for CSX and led the industrial development, regional sales, joint facilities and short line teams. He was an integral part of the team that spearheaded the acquisition of Pan Am Railways including the commercial integration and the negotiations with various stakeholders impacted by the transaction.
Prior to CSX, Mr. Tisa spent over 20 years with Canadian National (CN) in a variety of leadership positions including sales, service, network strategy and corporate development. He was instrumental in the development of two intermodal terminals on the CN network – Indianapolis, IN and Duluth, MN.
Mr. Tisa has also been a board member of several short line railroads including New York, Susquehanna and Western Railway Corporation; Pan Am Southern; The Indiana Rail Road Company; The Belt Railway Company of Chicago; and Mississippi Export Railroad.
Mr. Tisa received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Notre Dame. He’s been active with several industry organizations and served as president of the North American Rail Shippers Association (NARS); Midwest Association of Rail Shippers (MARS); and Traffic Club of Chicago.
