Employee Spotlight: Chris Slater

Chris Slater serves as Engineer at the Utah Central Railway (UCRY) in Ogden, Utah and has been with the Patriot Rail team since 1999. As an engineer, his primary responsibilities include safe and efficient control of train movements in strong communication and coordination with the conductor. Mr. Slater ensures compliance with all train orders, signals, and railroad rules for safety and operations, including applicable Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) regulations. He also inspects equipment prior to departure.

Chris joined Patriot Rail because he appreciates the family atmosphere and that he is not a “number.” He finds it especially important that he always has someone to talk to and consult, and that Patriot Rail takes great pride in providing quality tools and equipment.

Mr. Slater is known for his outstanding work ethic and professionalism. He trains new hires to ensure they understand Patriot Rail’s safety expectations and leads by example. In addition, he is consistently engaged in improving practices and is vigilant with locomotive fuel conservation.

When Mr. Slater is not at work, he enjoys outdoor activities and spending time with his family.
